Celia Rees has written over twenty novels and has become a leading writer for Young Adults with an international reputation. She says, ‘I like to write what teenagers like to read’.

She has written in different genre, from gritty realism, ghost stories and horror before focusing on historical fiction with the publication of Witch Child, its sequel, Sorceress, going on to Pirates!, Sovay and The Fool’s Girl.

Her books have been translated into 28 languages and she has been short listed for the Guardian, Whitbread (Costa) and W.H. Smith Children’s Book Awards. Her books have won awards in the UK, USA, France and Italy. Her latest book for Young Adults, Glass Town Wars, was nominated for the Carnegie Medal.

Miss Graham’s War marks another significant departure. Sparked by the chance discovery of an old family recipe book, Miss Graham’s War (formerly Miss Graham’s Cold War Cookbook) is her first novel for adults, published by HarperCollins, July 2020.

Celia lives in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and divides her time between writing, reviewing and teaching creative writing. She has been a regular tutor on Arvon courses. She has been Chair of the Society of Authors Children’s Writers’ and Illustrators’ Group and a member of the Society of Authors’ Management Committee.
